Is Sinharaja worth visiting?

For nature lovers and birders, absolutely. Guided walks reveal endemic birds, mixed-species feeding flocks and rainforest plants found nowhere else. It is humid, wet and leechy — part of the experience.

Sinharaja protects a remnant of the rainforest that once covered south-western Sri Lanka. Many of its species are endemic. Visits are on foot with a local guide, entering from the Deniyaya (south) or Kudawa (north-west) side.
