How we operate
Responsible Travel
Practical standards for wildlife, culture, communities and the environment — what we do, not just what we say.
Wildlife
- We never guarantee sightings, and we ask jeep drivers to keep distance, avoid crowding animals and switch off engines near elephants.
- We do not include elephant rides, bathing or other attractions where animals are used for entertainment.
- For whale and dolphin watching, we choose operators who follow responsible watching practices.
- Turtle hatcheries vary widely; we recommend community conservation projects over commercial hatcheries.
Culture and faith
- We brief travellers on temple etiquette: modest clothing, shoes and hats off, and never posing with your back to a Buddha image.
- Religious traditions — including the Ramayana associations — are presented respectfully and accurately.
Communities
- Village experiences are chosen so income reaches the families involved.
- We encourage local restaurants, crafts and businesses.
- We ask photographers to seek permission before photographing people.
Environment
- We encourage refillable water bottles and reduced plastic use.
- Itineraries avoid unnecessary backtracking and long empty drives.
Guiding
- We use licensed guides where required and are clear about who is a driver and who is a licensed guide.
