Terms, Conditions & Payment Policy
The terms covering quotations, payments, changes, cancellations and travel services arranged by Meth Travels.
Written in plain language so you can find the term or choice that matters.
These terms apply when you ask Meth Travels (Pvt) Ltd to arrange a tour, transfer, flight or other travel service. Your written proposal, invoice and booking confirmation form part of the agreement. If a booking document contains a specific term that differs from this page, the booking-specific term applies to that service.
1. Quotations and availability
A quotation is based on the dates, party, rooms, vehicle, route and services described in it. Unless stated otherwise, it is not a reservation. Hotel rooms, guides, vehicles, airfares, train seats and activities remain subject to availability until the required payment is received and suppliers confirm them.
We may need to revise a proposal if availability, taxes, government charges, exchange rates or supplier prices change before confirmation. We will explain a material change before asking you to proceed.
2. Making a booking
The person making the booking confirms that they are authorised to act for everyone named in it and will share these terms and the confirmed arrangements with them.
A booking becomes binding only when we have received the payment stated as necessary for confirmation and issued written confirmation. An acknowledgement of an enquiry or payment instruction is not, by itself, confirmation.
Names must match the travel documents used for the journey. Tell us promptly if any detail is wrong. Suppliers may restrict name changes or charge for them.
3. Deposits, balances and payment
The deposit, balance deadline, currency and accepted payment method are stated in your proposal or invoice. They can vary because hotels, airlines and other suppliers impose different conditions. Bookings made close to departure may require full payment immediately.
You are responsible for bank, card, intermediary and currency-conversion charges unless the invoice says otherwise. A payment is treated as received when cleared funds reach the specified account or payment provider. Never send money to revised bank details without confirming the change through a known Meth Travels contact.
If payment is late, suppliers may release reservations. We may cancel the affected arrangements after reasonable notice, and the cancellation terms below may apply.
4. Prices
The confirmed price includes only the items listed as included. Flights, entrance fees, meals, drinks, tips, insurance, visas, optional activities and personal spending are excluded unless expressly included.
After confirmation, a price may change only where the booking documents allow it or where a government tax, compulsory charge, exchange-rate movement or supplier change affects the service. We will provide a revised calculation and explain the options available.
5. Changes requested by you
Ask for a change in writing as early as possible. We will check whether it can be made but cannot promise that the original price or services will remain available. You must pay any supplier charge, fare difference, additional service cost and amendment fee disclosed before the change is completed.
Most air tickets and some hotel, rail and activity bookings are non-transferable. A change of traveller may therefore be treated as a cancellation and new booking.
6. Cancellation by you
Cancellation must be sent in writing by the person who made the booking. It takes effect when we receive it. Contact your travel insurer at the same time.
The cancellation schedule stated in your proposal or confirmation applies. The amount may include non-refundable deposits, issued tickets, supplier charges and work already performed. Some peak-date, villa, group, flight and special-event arrangements may become fully non-refundable earlier than the rest of the trip.
Where no fixed schedule is stated, we will identify the supplier charges and reasonable costs that cannot be recovered. We will return recoverable funds after receiving them from the relevant suppliers, less amounts properly due under the booking.
Failure to arrive, an unused service, voluntary early departure or refusal of entry normally receives no refund unless the relevant supplier agrees otherwise.
7. Refunds
An approved refund is normally returned through the original payment route where practicable. Timing depends on banks, card providers and suppliers; we will keep you informed rather than promise a date outside our control. Currency movements and third-party charges can cause the amount received to differ from the original payment.
8. Changes or cancellation by us
Travel arrangements sometimes change because a supplier withdraws a service, weather disrupts transport, a site closes or conditions become unsafe. We may adjust the order, timing, route, accommodation, vehicle or activity where reasonably necessary.
For a significant change before travel, we will offer the practical options available, which may include accepting a suitable alternative, choosing another available arrangement at an adjusted price, or cancelling the affected service for a refund of recoverable amounts. Minor timing or route adjustments do not normally give a right to cancel the whole trip.
9. Events outside reasonable control
Neither party is responsible for failing to perform an obligation where performance is prevented by an event it could not reasonably control, such as severe weather, natural disaster, epidemic, war, civil disturbance, government action, border closure, strike, airspace restriction or major transport failure.
We will assist with reasonable alternative arrangements, but additional accommodation, transport, meals, visas or other costs remain the traveller’s responsibility unless a supplier, insurer or applicable law covers them.
10. Passports, visas and health
Each traveller is responsible for a valid passport, ETA or visa, transit permission, entry documents and compliance with immigration rules. Requirements depend on nationality, route and personal circumstances and can change. Use official government sources and seek professional advice where needed.
Travellers are also responsible for medical advice, vaccinations, medication and disclosing a condition or mobility need relevant to safe delivery of the trip. We are not a medical or immigration authority.
11. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance from the time of booking. It should be suitable for your activities and cover cancellation, medical treatment, evacuation, repatriation, baggage, delay and disruption. Read the exclusions and declare relevant medical conditions. Meth Travels is not an insurer and cannot decide a claim.
12. Supplier terms and our role
Hotels, airlines, guides, transport operators and activity providers may impose their own booking, baggage, safety, cancellation and liability conditions. Those conditions apply to their service and will be made available where relevant.
We remain responsible for the travel services we have agreed to arrange and for performing our own work with reasonable care. We do not control independent events or every act of a third-party supplier. Nothing in these terms removes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be removed.
13. Traveller conduct and damage
Follow local law, site rules and reasonable safety instructions. A service may be ended where a person’s conduct is unlawful, abusive, dangerous or seriously disruptive. The traveller is responsible for resulting costs and for damage they cause to vehicles, accommodation, equipment or property, subject to fair evidence of the loss.
14. Complaints and problems during travel
Tell your driver, guide, supplier or Meth Travels contact as soon as a problem occurs so there is a fair opportunity to fix it. If it remains unresolved, send a written complaint with the booking reference, dates, facts and supporting records through our contact details. We will investigate and respond after obtaining the information needed from the people involved.
15. Flights and transport connections
Airlines control schedules, baggage rules, changes and refunds for their tickets. You must provide correct flight details and allow suitable connection time. Where a delay affects a separately booked service, additional costs may apply unless the supplier agrees otherwise or insurance responds.
16. Website use
Website content is general planning information, not a confirmed booking or legal, medical or immigration opinion. Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access or copy its original content for commercial use. Third-party links are provided for convenience and are controlled by their operators.
17. Privacy
We use personal information to prepare and operate bookings, communicate with travellers, meet legal duties and prevent fraud. More detail is provided in our privacy policy.
18. Governing law
These terms and a booking with Meth Travels are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. The parties should first try to resolve a dispute directly and in good faith. Any court proceedings are subject to the jurisdiction applicable under Sri Lankan law.
If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A failure to enforce a term immediately is not a waiver of it.
19. Contact and updates
Questions about a proposal or payment should be sent through the contact details on this website. We may update these general terms for future bookings; the version supplied or linked when your booking is confirmed applies to that booking.
