Many couples combine Sri Lanka with the Maldives. This itinerary offers an alternative: after the Cultural Triangle, Kandy and the hill country, you spend four slow nights at a secluded beach retreat on Sri Lanka’s own south coast, chosen for privacy, space and sea views.
To be clear, this is a Sri Lankan beach stay, not the Maldives — there are no overwater villas or seaplanes — but the south coast has beautiful, uncrowded bays and it saves you an extra flight. The inland section keeps drives short and moves hotels only four times.
