This itinerary is for history lovers. It visits five UNESCO World Heritage Sites broadly in the order they rose to prominence, starting with the sacred city of Anuradhapura, moving to the rock fortress of Sigiriya and medieval Polonnaruwa, and ending at Kandy, the last royal capital.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tour suitable in the rainy season?

Yes. The Cultural Triangle gets afternoon showers from about October to January, but sightseeing continues; we plan visits for the mornings.

How much walking is involved?

A fair amount, often barefoot around temples on warm stone. Sigiriya is the only significant climb.
